A lot of people make at least one New Year’s resolution in their personal life, but not everyone thinks about making a business resolution list for their work life.
A good place to start on your business resolution list is to review your company goals. Most of those goals depend on your workforce being up to the task. Delegate important projects to employees that you think have the ability to rise to the task so they have the opportunity to learn something new. Employees get bored with routine tasks and can feel stuck when they never get any challenging or rewarding work to do.
Business Resolution #5 Assign teams strategically
Take the time to evaluate employees so that they can be assigned to teams that have members that complement each other’s skills and talents.
Business Resolution #6 Listen more
Listen to employees’ ideas. They are often experts in their own area and have the ability to challenge the “we have always done it this way” attitude and can suggest some innovative solutions.
Business Resolution #7 Let go a little
Overall, your goal should be to develop your employees to the point where you are no longer needed to direct every activity. That’s when you can move on to more strategic thinking and planning the future of your company instead of worrying about day-to-day operations.
